The '54 Airstream whale tail is very rare, and earns its name thanks to the unique panel design.
Though 60 years old, all parts of the Airstream were made operable for this project.
The inside was gutted upon purchase, with all fixtures custom built by Brewer design, including wall installs, carpet, and island.
SWELL.com and Billabong wanted a mobile pop-up shop to show and sell their latest swimwear and accessories. For this concept-to-build-and-completion project, a 1954 Airstream Whaletail was selected, then completely gutted and polished to fit the custom fixtures made by Brewer Design. Taking inspiration from ice cream trucks and retro beach culture, the Billabong Bikini Truck brings beach culture to the customer, who's able to shop, lounge, socialize and find their perfect bikini along the way.
Besides the fit-out of the interior, an exterior accessories garden was created. It too embraces modern, clean beach culture and feels very fresh. A vintage cash wrap was created, as was an accessories wall, custom changing rooms, small accessories ladder.
The entire set-up had to be modular and quick set-up to make it able to hit multiple venues. For example, the Airstream could show up at 8 AM and be set up and open for business by 10 AM. All exterior fixtures and inventory fit inside the Airstream for easy transport.
In a tight space, a boutique-style shopping experience was created.
